United Commercial Bank PLC launches agro CSR initiative ‘Voroshar Notun Janala’

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) recently held a press conference to announce the launch of their Agro CSR Project 2023 called ‘VorosharNotunJanala.’ 

The conference included the introduction of the project’s logo and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rural Development Academy (RDA).

Arif Quadri, UCB’s Managing Director and CEO, began the conference by revealing the project’s logo. 

After the logo unveiling, ATM Tahmiduzzaman FCS, DMD and Company Secretary of UCB, Rezaul Karim Siddiqui, a prominent media personality and project coordinator, and Anwar Farooq, former agriculture secretary and vice-president of BISEF Foundation, provided detailed insights into the project. They addressed questions from the attending media personnel.

The highlight of the event was the signing of the MoU with the Rural Development Academy (RDA), which serves as the project’s research partner. 

Arif Quadri, UCB’s Managing Director and CEO, and Abdul Majeed Pramanik, Ph.D., Joint Director of RDA and Project Director of CDRC, signed the MoU on behalf of their institutions, solidifying their commitment to collaborative efforts.

Prominent figures present at the conference included Syed Faridul Islam, Additional Managing Director of UCB; Nabil Mustafizur Rahman, Additional Managing Director of UCB; Abul Alam Ferdous, Additional Managing Director of UCB; N. Mustafa Tarek, Deputy Managing Director of UCB; Md Abdullah Al Mamoon, Deputy Managing Director of UCB; Alamgir Kabir, Deputy Managing Director of UCB, as well as other senior officials from BSAFE Foundation and RDA.

United Commercial Bank PLC has undertaken this initiative in line with the directives of Bangladesh Bank, with the goal of implementing the ‘VorosharNotunJanala’ agricultural support scheme as part of its social responsibility.

The project aims to ensure food security, improve nutritional quality, and promote climate-resilient sustainable agriculture for the nation’s prosperity.
