Negotiations between Boeing and the union representing 33,000 striking workers collapsed on Friday without an agreement following the walkout earlier this month.
Workers in the Pacific Northwest have been on strike since September 13 after rejecting Boeing’s contract offer, halting the 737 MAX and 777 aircraft production.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) confirmed that talks had ended without setting a new date for further negotiations but remained open to resuming discussions. Boeing expressed readiness to continue talks and reiterated its commitment to negotiating in good faith.
Boeing’s latest offer, announced earlier this week, included a 30% wage increase and the reinstatement of an annual bonus. The company set a Friday deadline for workers to accept the deal, but the union said it fell short of their demands. Mediation efforts by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) also failed to resolve the dispute.
