Nintendo’s latest game in the Zelda series, Tears of the Kingdom, has sold more than 10 million copies in just three days, making it the fastest-selling Zelda game ever.
The game was released on Friday for the Nintendo Switch console, and it has already sold more copies than any other Zelda game except Breath of the Wild, to which it is a sequel.
Breath of the Wild, released in 2017, sold almost 30 million units.
Tears of the Kingdom has also become 2023’s biggest physical video game launch in the UK, according to GamesIndustry.biz, selling 50% more physical copies than Hogwarts Legacy.
The game has been praised by critics for its beautiful graphics, engaging gameplay, and epic story. It has a Metacritic score of 97, making it one of the highest-rated games of all time.
The success of Tears of the Kingdom is a major win for Nintendo, and it is a sign that the Zelda franchise is still going strong. Nintendo Switch remains strong on popularity metrics, and there is an increasing demand for high-quality open-world games.
