Md Wahiduzzaman, managing director of Japan Garden City, has been elected president of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB).
He was elected unopposed, alongside Liaquat Ali Bhuiyan, chairman of Brick Works Limited, who was elected senior vice president.
The election also saw the appointment of several other key positions within the association. MA Awal, managing director of Haveli Property Development Ltd, was elected as vice president 1; Mohammad Akhter Biswas, managing director of Akhter Properties Limited, as vice president 2; Abdul Latif, managing director of Basic Builders Limited, as vice president 3; Abdur Razzaq, chairman of Arma Real Estate Limited, as vice president for finance; and Haji Delowar Hossain, managing director of RF Builders Limited, as vice president from Chattogram.
The new committee, elected for two years, represents a significant shift for REHAB, marking its first formal election since 2007. For the past six terms, the association has been led by an executive committee appointed through mutual understanding among its members.
Direct voting was conducted for Vice President 2 and Vice President 3 at the REHAB office on February 27, and the directors were elected through the same process.
This election is expected to bring renewed focus and direction to REHAB, reflecting the members’ confidence in the new leadership to guide the association in addressing the challenges and opportunities within Bangladesh’s real estate and housing sector.
