The Advisory Committee on Government Purchases approved two proposals today to procure liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the spot market for Tk 14.96 billion under the direct procurement method.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division has been authorized to purchase LNG worth Tk 7.54 billion at $15.73 per Metric Million British Thermal Units (MMBTU) from M/S Total Engineering Gas and Power Ltd, Switzerland. M/S Singapore Pte Ltd, Singapore, approved another procurement valued at Tk 7.42 billion at $15.47 per MMBTU.
Additionally, the committee sanctioned the purchase of 10,000 tonnes of lentils for Tk 95 crore for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh from Sheikh Agro Food Industries.
A major infrastructure project—the Tk 59.64 billion Saidabad Water Treatment Plant (Phase III) Project (Component 1)—received approval. It covers a raw water pumping station and pipeline construction.
Other approvals included Tk 4.88 billion for the Community Workforce and Services Support (non-consulting service-01) and the procurement of 30,000 tonnes of fertilizer from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Ltd for Tk 1.55 billion.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Committee on Economic Affairs cleared an emergency LNG procurement from the spot market and approved service procurement for the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, scheduled for April 7-10.
