Edotco and Huawei introduce fibreglass tower

Edotco and Huawei introduce fibreglass tower
by Insider Desk
March 9, 2024

Edotco Bangladesh and Huawei Technologies Bangladesh have joined forces to introduce an innovative eco-friendly telecommunications tower.

The tower, made of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), marks a significant advancement in the country’s telecom infrastructure.

Claiming a pioneering move, Edotco Bangladesh will be the first tower company in Bangladesh to offer FRP tower solutions to mobile network operators. This collaboration aims to address the needs of densely populated areas, particularly rooftop sites.

According to a joint press release, the FRP solutions promise a reduction of up to 44% in tower weight and a boost in construction efficiency by up to 75%. These features make them ideal for deployment in urban areas.

Highlighting the technical advantages, the towers are designed to not reflect radio waves, ensuring efficient microwave transmission. They are also durable and capable of withstanding high voltage without damage.

Moreover, the towers are touted as easy to install and transport, contributing to a streamlined construction process. Their eco-friendly characteristics include low carbon dioxide emissions and reduced need for frequent painting.

The collaboration between Edotco and Huawei was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The partnership between Edotco and Huawei is poised to set an example in sustainable telecom practices through innovative solutions and expertise.
