Eastern Bank has announced a 25 percent dividend payout for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, comprising a 12.50 percent cash dividend, according to a recent press release issued by the bank.
The declaration was made during the bank’s 32nd annual general meeting (AGM), which convened recently and was presided over by Md Showkat Ali Chowdhury, the bank’s chairman.
The AGM saw the participation of prominent figures within the bank’s leadership, including directors such as Mir Nasir Hossain, Salina Ali, Anis Ahmed, Mufakkharul Islam Khasru, Gazi Md Shakhawat Hossain, KJS Banu, Zara Namreen, Toufic Ahmad Choudhury, Ruslan Nasir, KM Tanjib-ul Alam, and Khondkar Atique-e-Rabbani.
Shareholders lauded the board and management for Eastern Bank’s commendable financial performance despite confronting numerous challenges, including the global economic slowdown and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Expressing their satisfaction with the bank’s resilience and prudent management, shareholders overwhelmingly approved all agenda items presented at the AGM.
In particular, shareholders voiced appreciation for the bank’s decision to declare a healthy dividend for the fiscal year 2023, reflecting Eastern Bank’s commitment to delivering value to its shareholders amidst a challenging operating environment.
