Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin raised concerns over Bangladesh’s business environment, questioning foreign investors’ interest if local entrepreneurs face challenges.
Speaking with DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed, he stressed the need for policy consistency and private sector capacity-building to address future trade and investment challenges.
Uddin attributed last year’s supply chain disruptions to a student-led mass uprising, floods, and law and order issues but noted improvements underway.
He expressed optimism about stabilizing prices of essentials, including rice, during Ramadan, starting late February.
Highlighting inflation control and economic development, he called for expanding the tax base and emphasized policy reforms as critical for addressing challenges post-Bangladesh’s LDC graduation.
