Clothing giant Levi’s now in Dhaka

Levi Strauss & Co, a renowned American clothing company, has inaugurated a store in Dhaka, marking its foray into Bangladesh under the third franchise agreement inked by local conglomerate DBL Group, following similar deals with Nike and Puma.

With a global presence spanning over 110 countries and approximately 3,000 stores, Levi’s expansive range of products, including denim jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts, and formal and casual woven shirts for both men and women, is set to cater to the burgeoning middle-income demographic.

The newly opened 2,270 square feet store, situated on Banani Road 11 since April 1, aims to tap into Bangladesh’s evolving retail landscape.

Amisha Jain, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of South Asia-Middle East and Africa at Levi Strauss & Co., highlighted Bangladesh’s substantial retail potential, citing its population exceeding 160 million as a significant opportunity for expansion.

According to a senior official requesting anonymity, DBL Group plans to extend Levi’s presence across Dhaka, with imminent openings in areas like Dhanmondi and later in Chattogram.

The country’s apparel market boasts annual sales surpassing $15 billion, with rising per capita consumption driven by income growth, fostering a gradual influx of international brands.
