Canva has introduced Dream Lab, a powerful AI-driven image generator available on both its web and mobile platforms, allowing users to create detailed and styled images based on their descriptions.
Leveraging the capabilities of Leonardo.ai, which Canva acquired earlier this year, Dream Lab expands Canva’s creative toolset with style presets such as Cinematic, 3D Render, Illustration, and Moody.
Users can also guide Dream Lab’s output by referencing an existing image—a feature that mirrors capabilities found in advanced editing software like Photoshop. The Verge highlights this as a key function, enabling Canva to deliver more sophisticated, professional-quality results.
Dream Lab’s launch is part of Canva’s ‘Magic AI’ suite, which introduces new tools for text generation, video effects, real-time reactions, and data visualization.
Accessible from the homepage side menu, Dream Lab prompts users to describe their desired image and choose from presets like Bokeh and HDR, as well as common aspect ratios like 1:1, 16:9, and 9:16.
While free users are limited to 20 lifetime uses, Pro, Teams, Nonprofits, and Education users receive 500 uses per member each month, making Dream Lab a versatile tool for a wide range of creative projects.
