Officials confirmed that Beximco Ltd. has announced the closure of its industrial park and 13 affiliated factories in Gazipur, citing a lack of work. The shutdown, effective February 28, affects all officers, employees, and workers except those in Yarn Unit-1.
According to a notice issued by the company’s managing director, layoffs were conducted under the Bangladesh Labour Act due to declining work availability. With no improvement in the situation, operations have been completely halted.
Gazipur Industrial Police Superintendent AKM Zahirul Islam confirmed the closure, stating that payments for affected workers will begin on March 9. Company officials assured that all dues would be settled in accordance with legal provisions.
Islam noted that there was no worker dissatisfaction at the industrial park following the announcement.
