Banglalink, one of Bangladesh’s leading telecom operators, reported a 5.6% year-on-year increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2024, reaching Tk 1,544 crore. This growth is attributed to the significant expansion of its customer base and a notable rise in mobile data revenue.
In the January-March period, Banglalink’s mobile data revenue increased 6.2% year-on-year, totaling Tk 523.6 crore.
Veon, Banglalink’s parent company, noted that the growth trajectory faced initial challenges in January due to the national elections and other factors, which slowed the company’s expansion. However, the performance improved significantly in February and March, leading to a robust quarter overall.
Banglalink’s CEO, Erik Aas, attributed the company’s success to implementing its Digital Operator 1440 (DO1440) strategy. This strategy emphasizes providing comprehensive services to customers throughout every minute of the day, ensuring continuous engagement and support.
Banglalink’s subscriber base has grown substantially over the past year. According to data from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), by March 2024, the number of subscribers had risen to 4.44 crore, up from 4.1 crore in March 2023.
Moreover, Banglalink’s 4G users grew by a remarkable 23% year-on-year, reaching 2.2 crore in the first quarter of 2024.
Erik Aas highlighted the trust that Banglalink’s subscribers place in the company’s services, particularly its 4G network, recognized as the fastest in the country. The CEO expressed confidence in the continued growth of the telecom sector in Bangladesh, which is driven by increasing digital adoption and customer engagement.
The steady growth in both revenue and subscriber base positions Banglalink well for future expansion. The telecom operator’s focus on enhancing its digital services and infrastructure is expected to continue driving growth in the highly competitive market.
The success of Banglalink’s DO1440 strategy highlights the importance of customer-centric approaches in the telecom industry. Banglalink aims to strengthen its market position and foster greater customer loyalty by ensuring that services are available and reliable throughout the day.
