The demand for comforters and blankets in Bangladesh is soaring due to increased affordability and rising purchasing power.
Local manufacturing has made these products more accessible, resulting in a 20% annual market growth over the past five years, reaching Tk 7 billion.
Over 100 companies, including Apex, HomeTex, Pran-RFL Group, Swan, Karmo, Bengal, and EuroAsia, have heavily invested in this business trend.
Residents like Mozammel Haque from Dhaka are purchasing these items, finding them warm, washable, and perfect for winter weather. Haque recently bought a comforter and blanket for Tk 9,000 and praised their warmth and convenience.
Pran-RFL Group’s brand, Comfy, introduced 13 new comforter designs for this winter. Initially, imported comforters were in high demand, but now, high-quality local alternatives dominate the market. Comfy, with a maximum retail price of Tk 2,500, produces around 360,000 comforters annually, experiencing a 10% yearly sales growth.
However, Hometex Bangladesh Manufactory reported slightly lower quilt sales due to the country’s current economic situation. Shwapno, a prominent retail brand, also faced lower-than-expected sales volume, according to Sabbir Hasan Nasir, executive director of ACI Logistics.
