Throughout 2022, Bangladesh achieved a significant milestone by securing 27 green building certifications, including an impressive 13 in the platinum category, marking the highest number in a single year.

Among the 204 certified factories, 74 have platinum ratings, 116 have gold ratings, and the remaining have other ratings. Additionally, there are plans for 500 more factories to pursue the USGBC’s LEED certification.

Bangladesh stands out globally with 54 out of the top 100 highest-rated LEED green factories worldwide, including 9 out of the top 10 and 18 out of the top 20.

Remarkably, Bangladesh hosts the world’s highest-scoring factory, achieving a score of 104.

The USGBC evaluates factories based on various criteria, such as performance in transformation, energy efficiency, water management, and waste management. Factories demonstrating exceptional performance are awarded platinum, followed by gold and silver ratings.
