Arla Foods Bangladesh, a subsidiary of the global dairy cooperative Arla Foods and the producer of DANO, has officially opened its new UHT milk production facility in Gazipur.
Notable figures attended the inauguration ceremony, including the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, Md. Abdur Rahman, the Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh, Christian Brix Møller, and various government representatives.
This facility marks a significant development in Bangladesh’s dairy industry. With a joint investment of approximately €15 million with partner Mutual Group, the factory aims to set new standards for modern, safe, and sustainable dairy production, focusing on affordable nutrition for the local population.
The new production site has received certifications, including FSSC 22000 (Version 5.1) and ISO 9001:2015, demonstrating Arla Foods’ dedication to producing safe and nutritious dairy products.
The facility features an advanced energy efficiency system projected to save 4 million liters of water and reduce CO2e emissions by 220 tonnes annually.
Moreover, modern wastewater treatment plants are expected to reduce the chemical footprint by 80-85% compared to traditional technologies.
The facility’s aseptic sterile system ensures 100% safe UHT milk products, prioritizing consumer safety.
In line with its environmental sustainability goals, Arla Foods Bangladesh aims to reduce its annual CO2e emissions by 405 tons through an upcoming solar panel project.
Laurent Ponty, Managing Director of Arla Foods Bangladesh Limited, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability. He thanked Mutual Group for their partnership and thanked the Bangladesh government for supporting their contribution to the dairy sector.
