AMD has announced that the upcoming Windows 11 update, version 24H2, will significantly improve the performance of its recently launched Zen 5 CPUs. According to initial reviews, the Ryzen 9000 series, which was introduced earlier this month, had faced criticism from users for underperforming.
The key enhancement in the 24H2 update is optimizing AMD-specific branch prediction code, which plays a crucial role in CPU performance. AMD has indicated that this update will benefit the Zen 5 CPUs and provide performance boosts for older Zen 4 and Zen 3 processors.
According to AMD, users can expect a 13% performance increase in games like Far Cry 6 on the flagship Ryzen 9950X CPU when running on the new Windows 11 update compared to the previous 23H2 version. Additionally, a 7% performance improvement is anticipated for Cyberpunk 2077.
AMD is collaborating with Microsoft to roll out this optional update, which will be available to all Windows 11 users in the near future. This development aims to address the initial concerns regarding the Ryzen 9000 series and deliver a better user experience across AMD’s latest and previous generation CPUs.
